The Legolas code: Feature update & demo

Date:

Joint seminar with Nicolas Brughmans & Adrian Kelly at the Centre for mathematical Plasma Astrophysics, KU Leuven, Belgium.

Abstract. “Legolas is a magnetohydrodynamic spectroscopic code that quantifies all the three-dimensional natural oscillations and instabilities of a one-dimensionally varying equilibrium.” This used to be the one-line summary of the Legolas code. However, with the release of Legolas v2.3 there is much more to the code. In this seminar, we present Legolas’s latest release, including an overview of its latest features: the initial value solver “Legolas-IVP” and the MPI-AMRVAC interface “GIMLI”. We will briefly go over the code’s structure and highlight several examples and applications. Afterwards, for those interested in getting started with the code, we foresee a hands-on session with a few guided examples and help from the developers.
